Voice Search

Voice search, also known as voice-enabled search, is a technology that allows users to inquire about information by speaking directly into a smart device rather than typing queries on search engines. For example, a user could ask on their Android device, “Hey Google, what’s the weather today?”. Google Assistant uses voice search to access weather data and responds verbally with the current weather conditions, providing a touchless search experience.

Voice search is convenient and accessible. The technology provides a speedier and more efficient way to search for information, which is ideal for users who are busy or need to travel somewhere. It’s attainable for people with disabilities, such as those with mobility or visual impairments, by offering an easy way to interact with devices through spoken commands. These characteristics, along with allowing users to speak in the language they feel most comfortable with,  contribute to a positive customer experience.

Voice recognition software may not always be accurate, especially in noisy environments or when users have strong accents. This leads to errors. However, this isn’t a large issue, more of a temporary drawback users can experience.
