It’s purely online, serving as the virtual equivalent of physical store shelves. For example, a digital shelf on Amazon is a product surrounded by images, descriptions, customer reviews, and pricing. Even simply searching for shoes on a search engine, the digital shelf would be the search results you see.
A digital shelf is greatly advantageous for businesses. Online shopping is typically more convenient, enabling customers to explore a wide range of products, compare prices, and enjoy immediate satisfaction from instantly receiving their purchases. It doesn’t require face-to-face interactions, an attractive feature for many (me included). This yields a higher revenue and allows customers to browse through a variety of products they wouldn’t see in a store. Digital shelves also can reach audiences that aren’t just in their region, displaying the global reach businesses can have.
