Founded in 1968, RDO Equipment Co. is one of the world’s largest John Deere dealers, providing connected equipment and technology for agriculture, construction, environmental industries and more. With over 90 U.S. locations and international partnerships in regions such as Africa and Ukraine, RDO also partners with leading brands such as Vermeer and Topcon to deliver innovative solutions that help customers grow and build the world. 

Beyond equipment sales, RDO provides comprehensive services including the online sale of over 750,000 parts, along with maintenance, rentals, financing, and technology support. The company emphasizes a partnership approach, aiming to support customers throughout the lifecycle of their equipment. 

Our ERPs weren’t built for eCommerce, and trying to manage product data for our website was a nightmare. We needed a way to consolidate everything and make it usable. Before Akeneo, RDO’s eCommerce ambitions were hindered by the complexity of their data ecosystem. The company relied on two ERP systems – CDK Global (Intellidealer) and a homegrown S2 system; neither of which were built for modern eCommerce. 

These systems stored product data inconsistently, making it difficult to aggregate and standardize information for online sales. This challenge was magnified by RDO’s vast inventory of 750,000 parts and 2.2 million products, many of which lacked key metadata, images, or accurate specifications.
