The Challenge: Making Complex Product Information Easier to Find and Trust

Hydroscand’s product catalog is highly technical, with more than 30,000 hydraulic and industrial hose products used by customers, distributors, engineers, and field technicians across global markets. In this environment, product data accuracy is critical: finding the wrong product or relying on outdated specifications can directly impact service speed, operational efficiency, and customer downtime.

Previously, product information was spread across printed catalogs, PDFs, and an eCommerce site. Service technicians in the field often relied on printed materials that were not always up to date, creating challenges with consistency, maintenance, and confidence in the data.

As Hydroscand continued to serve customers across more than 20 countries, the company needed a more scalable way to manage technical product information, update specifications, support translations, and ensure every team and partner had access to the same accurate information.

The Solution: Creating a Single Source of Product Truth with Akeneo

To modernize how product information is managed and shared, Hydroscand adopted Akeneo Product Cloud as its centralized source of truth. Product data now flows from one trusted platform to internal teams, digital channels, partners, and customers.

As part of the project, Hydroscand worked closely with Akeneo to co-create Akeneo Digital Showroom, a solution designed to make complex product discovery faster and more precise. The Digital Showroom gives sales teams, distributors, customers, and technicians a more intuitive way to search for and identify the exact product they need.

The co-creation model allowed Hydroscand to shape the solution around its business requirements rather than adapting its processes to a rigid system. This collaborative approach helped ensure the platform could support complex technical product data, internal workflows, and future customer-facing experiences.

The Result: Faster Product Discovery and a Stronger Digital Product Experience

Today, Hydroscand has a scalable product information foundation that supports faster updates, more consistent data, and a significantly improved product discovery experience.

The transformation also marks a major step away from printed catalogs. Hydroscand plans to phase out catalog production entirely, reducing production time, costs, and environmental impact while ensuring customers always access the most current product information.

The company is also developing a mobile application to support technicians in the field, giving them access to accurate product information wherever they are. Looking ahead, Hydroscand plans to expand its use of AI to make product discovery feel more like working with a knowledgeable colleague, guiding users through complex product choices with greater intelligence and precision.
