This should be a boon to <strong>merchants and retailers <\/strong>who call airport terminals their home. After all, airports already have plenty of the makings of <strong>great customer experiences <\/strong>and often have no shortage of restaurants and retail stores to keep travelers busy while they wait for their flight.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nHowever, despite this diverse and often luxurious offering, many consumers find shopping or dining at the airport to be a <strong>passable experience at best, and often much worse.<\/strong>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nIt\u2019s a bleak scene \u2014\u00a0but luckily, it\u2019s all beginning to change. Travelers can use the airports\u2019 <strong>omnichannel tools<\/strong>, including<strong> eCommerce sites <\/strong>and <strong>mobile apps<\/strong> to find real-time information about what retailers are operating in a given airport or terminal, their hours, and even the products they have available for purchase. This helps consumers feel more <strong>comfortable<\/strong> with the airport shopping experience, encouraging<strong> increased spending<\/strong> before travelers board a flight. And, travelers have an additional choice: items purchased at the airport can be delivered to the gate at boarding time, or even shipped home. In this case, shopping at the airport while otherwise waiting becomes \u201ctime well spent\u201d &#8211; a cornerstone concept of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Experience-Economy-Updated-Joseph-Pine\/dp\/1422161978\/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=joe+pine&amp;qid=1569235038&amp;s=books&amp;sr=1-1\">experience economy.\u00a0<\/a>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nBy providing a wider array of product information and improved product experiences, <strong>Fraport<\/strong> was able to leverage omnichannel selling in<strong> airport shopping <\/strong>which led to an increase in average order value as well as an improvement in the customer experience.\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Lagardere\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\nEveryone likes a discount.\u00a0 This may be the biggest reason that duty-free retail has grown to become a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globenewswire.com\/news-release\/2019\/04\/17\/1805437\/0\/en\/Global-Duty-Free-Retailing-Market-to-Surpass-US-136-28-Billion-by-2027-Coherent-Market-Insights.html\"><strong>$67.74 billion<\/strong><\/a> market as of 2018.
